Introduction

This module aims to equip e-leaders with the necessary knowledge on how to evaluate the performance of remote teams and how to implement effective follow up techniques. Also, the module covers the topics considered essential to gain an understanding of the skills and competencies to become an e-leader.

E-leadership is much like traditional leadership, but the relational development factors between leaders and employees, like feedback, rewards and motivation is somewhat different when this is mediated digitally.

According to the International Labour Organization (2020), well-managed remote teams can be more productive than physically managed employees as leaders are required to measure productivity by objective metrics than the physical presence at the office. Firstly, an e-leader has to identify the needs that must be measured and then to establish how to track and measure the employee’s performance. The key for effective follow up techniques is to choose the most impactful and qualitative metrics.

This online course has been designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding in the management of a remote team and how to evaluate their performance by using effective follow up techniques.

The first part of the course will present the five most effective follow up techniques to evaluate the productivity of employees when working from home.  In the second part, you will be able to learn the most common challenges that e-leaders can face in a remote working environment. The third part will focus on techniques for evaluating employees’ performance.

Finally, the fourth part and fifth part of the course present best practises of effective follow up techniques and cases studies which can help for a better understand on how to evaluate the performance of your remote teams.

By the end of the module, you will be able to develop or/and enhance the following competencies:

  1. Taking initiatives.
  2. Analysing – understanding complex information, making connections, and drawing conclusions.
  3. Deciding – weighing things up and reaching decisions.
  4. Creating – coming up with new ideas, approaches, or solutions.
