How to recognise your e-leadership style | e-leadership and e-management strategies tips.
Recognizing your e-leadership style can be challenging as it can vary depending on your personality, leadership experience, and the digital tools and platforms you use. However, here are some ways you can recognize your e-leadership style:
1
Self-reflection: Take some time to reflect on how you approach leadership in a virtual environment. Consider your communication style, decision-making process, and how you foster collaboration and innovation among your team.
2
Feedback from others: Ask for feedback from your team members and colleagues on how they perceive your leadership style in a virtual environment. This can help you identify areas for improvement and build on your strengths.
3
Assessments: You can take online assessments to identify your leadership style in a virtual environment. These assessments are designed to evaluate your personality, communication style, decision-making approach, and other key leadership traits.
4
Research and education: You can research different e-leadership styles and learn about their characteristics and best practices. This can help you identify which style you are more aligned with and how to improve your leadership skills in a virtual environment.
5
Remember that leadership styles can evolve and change over time, so it’s important to continuously assess your leadership style and make adjustments as necessary to effectively lead your team in a digital era.
As mentioned before, according to Avolio, B. & Kahai, S. (2003a), “leadership mediated by technology can exhibit exactly the same content and style as traditional face-to-face leadership.” They also believe that the leader’s ability to function effectively in this environment depends on the infrastructure supporting the workplace (Avolio, B. & Kahai, S. (2003b)). Effective virtual leadership is not that different than in-person, what changes is how you do it.
